Complaints Proceedure

We prefer to deal with any complaints there and then as they arise, and would always encourage you to approach a member of staff or duty manager at the time. If you are not able to then you can reach out to our Operations Manager via the main centre email eastbourneleisure@lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk.  If after this you would like to follow the formal complaints procedure of Eastbourne Borough Council, more information can be found by downloading the document below.

Below are some of the frequently asked questions that we receive.  If you are unable to find the information you require on our website, and your answers are not on this list then please contact one of our friendly team for help.  The contact form is at the bottom of the page.

Do I need a coin for your lockers?

The lockers operate on a 20p non refundable system.  You will need a 20p coin and the locker will retain this after it is used so we recommend having a couple handy if you are planning to revisit your locker during your visit.  Please note we are unable to do cashback on a card but can provide change from another form of denomination.

Do you have a Car Park and how much is it?

There is a large car park which it is possible to drive straight into on entry, the barriers will lift as you approach.  To exit you will need to insert a token which can be purchased from reception on the following rates:

DD/Pay in Full Members - FREE

Visitors to the centre £1.30

Non visitors £3.50

Are there disabled parking spaces?

Yes we have disabled spaces in the center of the turning circle directly at the front of the building.  Parking in this area is free but please display a valid blue badge when using these spaces.  The area is monitored by parking enforcement officers and you could be in receipt of a fine without one.

Parking on double yellow lines

We kindly ask customers not to park on the double yellow lines as we need this area clear to allow access for emergency vehicles.  The area around the building is monitored by parking enforcement officers, and parking on the double yellow lines could result in a fine.

Residents Discounts

The Sovereign Centre offers special rates and discounts for certain activities to all visitors who have a Sovereign Centre Eastbourne resident card.  You are eligible if you pay your council tax to Eastbourne Borough Council, bring your council tax bill, or a utilities bill no older than 12 months to the Sovereign Centre where you will be issued with your card.

Swimmer Guidance

Swim Changing

  • We recommend arriving swim ready with your costume on under your clothing to speed the process of entry to the pool.  We kindly request that you do shower before entering the pool.

Swim Lockers

  • No belongings are to be brought poolside and all customers wishing to use the pool must use the lockers provided.  This also includes items left on the window ledge, as this impedes the airflow into the building as well as restricting our ability to clean.

  • Lockers are available for 20p per use and are non refundable.

Lane swimming:

  • Lane swimming sessions are for adults and children if they can swim continuous lengths.  No non swimmers can attend these sessions.

  • Each lane will have a directional signage at the end to indicate the way that you swim up and back.  Please follow this guidance.

  • Lane swimming etiquette:

  • People of different standards and abilities will use the pool. Please respect their right to enjoy their swim.  Do not make physical contact with other participants and be courteous to all users.

  • Swim in a lane appropriate to your swimming ability/speed.

  • Please follow the direction of the lane boards and swim in single file. This will help to prevent accidents and ensure participants can maintain a safe social distance.

  • Please do not pass a swimmer mid length.  Faster swimmers should be allowed to pass at the end of each length. The slower swimmer should move to the edge of the lane and allow the swimmer to pass.

  • If you are continually being passed or the one doing the passing please consider moving to a slower or faster lane.

  • If you need to take a rest, please move to the edge of the lane.

  • If using equipment such as kick boards or pull buoys, consider moving to a slower lane temporarily so you do not hinder others swimming full strokes.

  • Lifeguards are here for everyone’s safety. If they ask you to adhere to a request please cooperate with them.
